The Path

    Learn the principles first. Start in the Fundamentals and follow the order. Investment Fundamentals train how you think. Finance Fundamentals teach you to read the numbers.

    Build the models yourself. The Three Financial Statements and the DCF topics come with a worked model and a blank template. Rebuild them from empty until the structure feels obvious and automatic.

    See the principles in real companies. In Equity Research you study real businesses across industries, each with a full analysis, its risks, its graphics and a clear thesis. This is where theory becomes judgment.

    Value a real company. Pick a business you care about, open its DCF, and value the real company, not simply the skeleton. Do one properly, then do several until you fully understand how valuation differs depending on the type of business model and industry you value.

    Become an investor. Knowledge alone changes nothing. Put your own capital to work and experience the process. Treat losses as a cost of doing business, and remember that idle cash has a cost too.

    Think in decades, not quarters. Own only what you would hold for years. Judge yourself on your process, not a single quarter.

    Respect risk before return. Size every position by what could go permanently wrong. Always demand a margin of safety.

    Sell on a broken thesis, not a falling price. A lower price is not a reason to sell. A shift in the fundamentals of the company is. Decide your exit strategy before you even allocate the capital.
